Gary Numan in 2006. Zappa and War of the Worlds in 2007. Iron Maiden in 2008, and now Devo. My daggy youth is haunting me, and I love it!

All I need is the 1980 line-up of Tangerine Dream and ELO to reform, and Robert Palmer to come back to life, and I'll be in heaven.

ELO!!!?!!?!?!????!

Good Grief.

Now, Devo I can understand.

ELO!!!?!!?!?!????!

Sad but true. After the fun I've had with Gary, I briefly considered a novel taking its structure from ELO's album "Time". Thankfully, though, sanity appears to have prevailed. For now.

Dude, go to EVERY SINGLE DATE, if you can. Back in the 1990s, I thought I would never get to see any of my New Wave heroes live. By now, however, I have seen Numan four times, Devo three times, A Flock of Seagulls, and Thomas Dolby (twice)!

DO NOT miss Devo, though: they put on an amazing, amazing show. You will feel like a true spud.

Music to my ears! I missed them in Brisbane a decade ago and have been kicking myself ever since. The Adelaide show is a definite, others if time and money permits. It's a long way between gigs.

Seen this great interview with Mark Mothersbaugh? Makes me wish I'd pursued a music career and gone to work for him instead of written sci-fi novels.

I read that article the day it was published. My Spud-boy sense led me right to it. (Actually, I think I spotted it on Metafilter.) Regardless, I would give and arm and a leg to work at Mutato Musika. I oftimes wish I would've minored in music instead of philosophy, as the only two things I do these days is write fiction and music.

BTW: I am sorely tempted to fly to Australia myself to see Devo. I don't know where the money will come from, but I'm sure I can overturn a bank or two....
