Hairiness isn't
quite the same as godliness--
unless you're Jesus*.

* Who was born in what we call, today, Palestine, and is listed as a "notable past resident" on Wikipedia.**

** Assuming he ever existed, of course.

Don't you think Jesus existed? Surely, interpolations aside, Josephus's references to him are evidence enough.

But wouldn't the poor chap freak out if he could see what's been done in his name!

True. A revolutionary prophet by that name (someone we'd probably call a terrorist these days) probably did exist back then. But Jesus as he is imagined today by most Christians probably didn't. I guess that's what I, in my sloppy way, am trying to say.

What was it The The once sang? "If Jesus Christ were to come back today, he'd be gunned down cold by the CIA." :-)

[g] Yesterday's prophet is today's terrorist. Too true. Although judging by the few words we have of his, he was preaching passive resistance, not out-and-out terrorism. That would not, of course, prevent his being gunned down. Well, I guess in their Ronman way, they got the same result...
